The Legacy of Steele Embryo Service

Registered Angus

(JM Steele Cattle, LLC.)

Joel Steele began the process of boosting the registered Angus population at Steele Ranch in 2025.  While registerable stock were long maintained among the commercial cattle herd prior to that, Joel specifically targeted the high quality back-stock of embryos and semen maintained by Dr. Steele to bring about a growing herd of premium registered Angus beef cattle.

Registered Hereford

(Steele Embryo Service)

Steele Ranch has maintained a small herd of registered Hereford cattle since 1947.  Dr. Steele has continued that legacy.  They are hormone free, high condition quality, and their easy temperaments make them a joy to work.  Years of attention to detail in their breeding have produced some excellent stock!

Commercial Beef Cattle

(Steele Embryo Service)

The majority of the herd aboard Steele Ranch are commercial cattle, heavy with Charolaise and some Brahman recipients for embryo transfer.  They are bred, selected, and retained for the best maternal traits, such as structure, milking, fertility, and ease of calving. They too receive a high standard of nutrition, care, and treatment.

Commercial Meat Goats

(Steele Commercial Goats, LLC.)

In 2025, Joel Steele also added commercial goats to the livestock population, or rather added them back, as Steele Ranch had a long history with raising goats for mohair.  The base herd is primarily Kiko, both registered and not, alongside Syphan Spanish and Toggenburger.  The goats bring comedy, liquidity, and an unexpectedly viable business model addition.  They are free-grazed by day, and penned at night, where their supplementation, hooves, kidding, and nutrition are closely monitored.
